Title:                           3D Modeling of human body based
on anthropometric measurement

Project type:                Bilateral projects with Hungary
Project funding:            Ministry of Science, Education and Sports
of the Republic of Croatia
Croatian coordinator:    Prof. Darko Ujević, PhD
Hungarian coordinator:  Assoc. Prof. Marianna Halász, Ph.D.

Project Summary:

Anthropometric measurements with the aim of improving the system of garment and footwear sizes are essential because of a number of factors influencing changes in the body proportions of a population.
Scientific cooperation between Croatia and Hungary will include the measurement of a specified population using a conventional method, standard anthropometric instruments and computer method with 3D body scanner. The research plan of anthropometric measurements will include a population aged 18 to 30 years who is divided into age groups (1st age group: 18-20 years; 2nd age group: 21-25 years; 3rd age group: 26-30 years).
Prior to the procedure of conventional anthropometric measurements it is necessary to organize seminars where field measurers will be educated for anthropometric measurements of the population. Such seminars will be carried out by authorized measurers of the Faculty of Textile Technology in Zagreb.
Scanning subjects with the 3D body scanner delivers a graphically three-dimensional virtual model on the basis of the measurements obtained. These data are very accurate and comparable with the measurements obtained by the conventional measurement method.

Key words: anthropometric measurement, 3D modeling of human body
