As part of the INTERREG DRP0200404 Green-Tex project: Enhancing Danube Green Textile and Garment Production and Consumption, a workshop on domestic wool processing – preparation procedures for obtaining effect yarn and hand weaving was held in Majur on July 1, 2025. The workshop was led by Assoc. Prof. Željko Knezić with valuable collaborators and workshop participants organized by the Mayor of Majur Municipality, Klementina Karanović.

In addition to local activists, the workshop was also attended by representatives of the Slovenian project partner Nativa Institute for Sustainable Growth and partners from the University of Zagreb Faculty of Textile Technology. Domestic wool, washed on a pilot washing system, was put through parallelization procedures, process of carding, after which the spinning process was demonstrated, namely single yarn and effect triple-threaded yarn with the additional effect of inserted (twisted) strands of wool fibres. After the spinning part, the possibilities of weaving of prepared yarns and achieving effects in woven products were demonstrated. Additionally, a device for diagonal weaving of narrow ribbons – the so-called pasica, inspired by the local art of hand weaving and traditional costumes was demonstrated. (A. Vinčić)
