The factory, located in Heiligenkreuz, is as an integral part of the Lenzing Group (Lenzing AG) with three work segments: Fibers, Plastics Products and Engineering. Fibres is the core business of the Lenzing AG, world market leader in the production of man-made cellulose fibers of high quality, with seventy five years of experience in producing viscose fibres, fifty years in the production of modal fibers and twenty years in manufacturing of lyocell fibres. Lenzing Group employs 7033 employees.

Sales of fiber in the 2012th amounted to 810,000 tons, meaning a gain of 2.09 billion, euro. Lenzing holds a significant share of the world market in the production of fibres, 99% (Lyocell), 80% (Modal) and 15% (Viscose).

In 2002, Lenzing became the first fiber producer in the world to be awarded with the EU Ecolabel.

Lenzing AG gives priority to environmental protection and sustainability, so an importance of ecology in the production of fibres is highlighted by slogan “Eco fulfills its function”. From environmental point of view these fibres are substitute or supplement to cotton because their production has far less impact than cotton. The surface yield is six times higher than cotton while water consumption is 10 to 20 times less.

TencelL®, Lenzing Modal® and Lenzing Viscose® fibers are primarily used in the textile industry for production of knitted and woven fabrics of various purposes: home textiles, underwear, socks, sports and leisure cloth. The most important products from lyocell fibres are TENCEL®standard, TENCEL®A100, TENCEL®LF, TENCELMicro®, TENCEL®Sun, TENCEL®C and Lenzing MicroModal®, Lenzing MicroModal®Air, Lenzing Modal®Color, ProModal® from modal fibres. Special fibers made by Lenzing are used for hygiene as well as technical applications.

On Thursday, 06. June 2013, Lenzing AG celebrated the 75th anniversary of its business operations together with 3,000 invited guests – employees, customers, business companions, politicians and partners. The company presented the book “75 Years of Innovation” published on this occasion, which honors Lenzing’s role as the driving force of innovation in the industry (http://www.lenzing.com/en/fibers/lenzing-viscose.html).
