Project Summary:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Development tendencies in the textile and clothing industry require a continuous development and the use of new information technologies and a gradual upgrading of construction and technological production processes. To determine garment sizes, it is necessary to know specific body proportions obtained with anthropometric measurements. Anthropometric surveys have been conducted since 1901 in order to develop and improve the system of garment and footwear sizes, and on average they are supplemented every 15 years with new knowledge. The needs of the clothing industry will enable Anthropology A) Create a database of virtual Models for the textile and clothing industry and Anthropology B) to investigate body shape; live- and early live Factors.
\nThe experimental part of requirements within the framework of the proposed scientific participation of Croatia and Austria includes anthropometric measurements of the selected population using standard anthropometric instruments and anthropometric measurements by means of new measuring systems – 3D body scanner, and the Optitex (\u201cVirtual becomes real\u201d) system for construction, grading, modeling, cutting pattern production and 3D sewing simulation. These systems or instruments improve computer-based information technology in clothing engineering and in a number of other areas, including anthropometry. The 3D body scanner scans a model or a person, and on the basis of measurements obtained a graphical three-dimensional virtual human model is produced. All the obtained data are very accurate and precise, and they are not prone to subjective assessments and are comparable with the measurements obtained with a conventional measuring method for the subject’s body. The obtained virtual models form the basis for garment construction and virtual simulation of garment fit.<\/p>\n
