These polycarboxylic acids (PCAs) have been applied as an environmentally friendly binder in a reaction with N-hydroxymethyl-3-dimethylphosphonpropionamide. In our previous investigations it has been determined that the best catalyst to be used with CA is sodium hypophosphite monohydrate (SHP). The use of bonding agent, either melamine formaldehyde (MF) or PCA is necessary in order to form sufficient covalent linkages between the FR agent and cotton.

The FR effectiveness was tested according to the ISO 6940 method, as well as with the limiting oxygen index (LOI) technique according to ASTM D 2863-97. Further treatment effectiveness was determined indirectly by determination of wrinkle recovery angles (WRA) and mechanical characteristics. Experiments were performed on textile material, wood and paper, under the different treatment conditions (temperature and time) in cooperation with Faculty of Forestry and Faculty of Graphical Art.

Publication within the area of Flame Retardant Finishing

Collaborators on project within the area of Flame Retardant Finishing

Title: Alternative Environmentally Friendly Processes & Methods of Cellulose Modification Project funding: Ministry of Science, Education and Sports Code: 117-1171419-1407 Project Leader: Prof. Drago Katović, Ph.D….

[1

post-201","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-uncategorized-hr
["GET
