This year’s Open Day of the Textile Scientific Research Centre entitled BIO AND/OR GREEN – NEW PARADIGMS FOR TECHNICAL TEXTILES, was held on September 26, 2022 at the Technical Museum Nikola Tesla in a hybrid model.

We are pleased with the presence of a large number of participants, 232 on-line and 62 on-site, so we would like to thank the Agency for Vocational Education and Training and Technical Museum Nikola Tesla for their help in the organization.

As part of the TSRC Open Day, a Workshop on Mitigating the Negative Effects of Climate Change was held from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The workshop is part of the activities of the project KK.05.1.1.02.0016 Production of food, biocomposites and biofuels from cereals in a circular bioeconomy, and was organized by employees and students of the Faculty of Agriculture and the Faculty of Textile Technology of the University of Zagreb.

Interactive workshops explained the following topics:
1. Production of biodiesel by transesterification of edible oil
2. Production of bioethanol from agricultural biomass
3. Production of biocomposites/biofilters from cereals
4. What do we consider as technical textiles?
5. Mulching with biodegradable non-woven agrotextiles
6. Hospital protective textiles
7. Textile as a shield against UV radiation
